“You Call That a Choice?" -- How ‘Free Will’ Is Sold Separately!

You slide out of bed, don your sustainably sourced jammies, and brew that ethically roasted, single-origin oat-milk latte.

Congratulations—according to the glossy ad you watched last night, you’ve just exercised your “free choice” to Save The Planet.

But before you pat yourself on the back, ask: did you really choose that coffee, or did a secret cabal of regulators, lobbyists, and algorithms all but gift-wrap it for you?

Spoiler alert: your morning ritual might be less “you” and more “them.”

Regulation: The Gift That Keeps Bureaucrats Busy

Government agencies love to remind us they’re here to “protect public health” or “save the environment.”

Yet behind those noble missions lurks a fog of paperwork so dense that only corporate giants can pilot their way through.

Consider the automotive world: new emissions standards are hailed as green triumphs—but they also erect towering barriers for small EV startups that don't have the capital to meet those new emissions standards.

As lobbyist-turned-whistleblower Jamie “Spreadsheet” puts it, “Regulations are great for the planet—if the planet has only three big car companies.”

Result?

Next time you consider an electric chariot, you’ll choose the one with the federal tax credit and polished dealership network because those pesky compliance costs made the indie makers vanish faster from the market than free Wi-Fi.

Lobbying: Democracy’s Friendly Neighborhood Payola

If regulations set the stage, lobbying writes the script.

Every year, corporations spend enough on campaign contributions to power a small nation (or at least, a really flashy Senate hearing).

They whisper sweet nothings in legislators’ ears until “public interest” morphs into “profit interest.”

Take the food lobby.

“Organic” and “natural” labels now cost a premium, but thanks to decades of lobbying, their legal definitions are blurred punchlines rather than guidelines.

As former FDA official Dr. Elaine “Greenwashing” admits, “We tried to define ‘natural,’ but then Big Snack said ‘natural’ must include GMO kale chips and processed cheese....So we just let marketing decide.”

Voilà—your $6 granola bar might be less ‘garden party’ and more ‘lab rat lunch!!’

Algorithmic Overlords: Big Data’s Subtle Persuasion

Online, freedom is a myth wrapped in code.

Every click, scroll, and midnight fridge search loops into an algorithmic echo chamber.

Your browser history whispers to ad networks, “Show them the peanut butter we sell” so you never see the two-person startup selling artisanal almond spread at half the price!

Search results serve up sponsored content like bread-and-butter—your “free choice” is "pre-buttered."

And when you think you’re exploring options, you’re actually doing laps on the corporate highway seeing the same mile-marker over and over.

As tech critic Raj “Cookie Monster” snarks, “Algorithms don’t decide what you like; they decide what you’re allowed to like.”

Redeeming Your ‘Free Choice’

Are we doomed to sip the corporate blend forever??!!

Not quite.

Real freedom begins with awareness—and a side of skepticism and caution.

Next time you’re faced with a decision:

  1. Read beyond the label. Ask, “Who paid for this regulation?” and “Which lobbyist ghostwrote this law?”

  2. Support the underdog. Hit up local, indie and mom‑and‑pop businesses.

  3. If only 1% of consumers resisted the algorithm, we’d see a marketplace revolt.

  4. Demand transparency. Petition for clear ‘natural’ definitions, anti‑lobbying laws, and algorithm audits.

Sure, it’s easier to shrug and mutter, “That’s just how the cookie crumbles,” but every revolution begins with one mis-priced latte and a little civic elbow grease!

True freedom of choice isn’t a hall pass—it’s a muscle you have to work to keep from atrophying.

Use it or lose it!!

So the next time you click “Buy Now,” pause and ask: who’s really profiting from my freedom?

You might find it’s not us… but them......over and over and over.

Do to financial issues and lack of funding we are temporarily halting further publication. After a full year of publication, we have reached a bridge that we are unable to cross at this time. We may periodically publish an article but at this time, full-time publication is no longer feasible. Hopefully we will see our way through this rough patch and will resume publication in the near future. Thanks again! Robert B.

Please Help Find These Forgotten Girls Held at Male Juvenile Prison for Over a Year!

MY MOST IMPORTANT STORY  Dozens of Forgotten Little Girls Held at Male Juvenile Prison for Over a Year! Welcome to the Sunshine State , where the palm trees sway, the alligators lurk, and the legislative process makes Kafka look like a life coach!  Florida House Bill HB21 . Not just a compensation bill but possibly a 20 million dollar "Stay out of Jail Free" card for some folks. This is a bill that does some good—but also trips over its own shoelaces, falls down a staircase, and lands on a historical oversight so big, it might as well have its own zip code! An oversight that overlooks what I consider to be its most vulnerable victims! The Setup: Justice with a Catch HB21 was enacted on July 1, 2024 to compensate victims of abuse from two male juvenile detention facilities located in Florida, Dozier and Okeechobee.  It says, “Hey, survivors of abuse between 1940 and 1975, here’s some compensation for the horrific things you endured!” Sounds good, right? Florida Rest Stop Rules of the Road: ‘You May Snooze — But Not for Long'

Drivers and travelers: rejoice, recline, and — most importantly — read the fine print.  In Florida you can legally sleep in your car at a rest area , but the state has politely (and bureaucratically) set a curfew on your horizontal ambitions.  Pull up, power nap , pack up — and do it all before the three-hour buzzer sounds. Think of Florida’s rest-area rules as the DMV of naps!  The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and the Florida Administrative Code say these roadside oases exist to fight driver fatigue — and to allow the general public a short, safe snooze.  For non-commercial drivers, the limit is three hours...  Commercial vehicle operators (that’s professional truck drivers) get more mercy: up to ten hours, aligned with federal hours-of-service expectations so truckers can actually finish a legally required rest window without getting ticketed for loafing.  So yes, your buddy the trucker can sleep longer than you — he’s earned it the h...
