Journey’s Steve Perry Auction Strikes a Chord for Altadena Fire Victims with Rocking Relief

As the resilient community of Altadena continues the arduous journey of rebuilding after the devastating Los Angeles wildfires, one of rock’s most iconic voices has offered a powerful spark of hope.

Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Steve Perry has raised an astonishing $215,000 through an extraordinary auction drawn entirely from his personal archives—funds that will directly benefit Altadena fire victims via the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund.

Curated by Darkives Collectibles, the auction showcased over 50 rare and never-before-available items from Perry’s storied career.

Fans and collectors had the chance to bid on a treasure trove of music history, including handwritten lyrics, gold and platinum records, vintage tour merchandise, and signed instruments.

The standout piece of the evening was the original handwritten lyrics to “Don’t Stop Believin’,” which fetched an incredible $43,500—testimony to the enduring power of Journey’s timeless anthem.

Highlights of the auction included:

  • Handwritten Lyrics of Journey classics “Don’t Stop Believin’” and “Faithfully”

  • Steve Perry’s Multi-Platinum RIAA Award for Journey’s Greatest Hits—celebrating over 15 million albums sold

  • Solo and Journey LPs, CDs, and cassettes from Perry’s personal collection, including his 1984 Street Talk solo album and Journey’s monumental Escape and Frontiers albums, all meticulously graded and authenticated by Audio Media Grading (AMG)

  • Signed studio instruments, preserving the very tools of creation Perry used in the studio

  • Vintage tour programs and T-shirts from the Strange Medicine 1994 Tour, Journey’s 1981 Escape Tour, and Street Talk 1984 Tour

  • A one-of-a-kind “JRNEYFAN” license plate, thrown onstage by a passionate New Jersey fan decades ago, now immortalized as a symbol of fan devotion

“This auction has been a journey through some of the most meaningful chapters of my life,” Perry said at the conclusion of the event.

“I’m truly appreciative of the incredible support for this charity auction. It means the world to me to see these personal pieces, many of which carry deep memories from different chapters of my life, find new homes while helping a cause that matters so deeply to me. I started this auction as a way to give back, and the response has been nothing short of overwhelming".

"I’m beyond grateful to everyone who participated, placed bids, shared the word, and supported the mission. Your generosity and kindness have turned this into something truly special. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. And who knows… maybe I’ll dig a little deeper into the vault and do this again sometime.”

The funds raised will be administered by the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing financial assistance to musicians and music industry workers in times of need.

With the $215,000 infusion, Sweet Relief will be able to offer immediate housing assistance, cover medical expenses, and help families rebuild their lives after the bitter loss inflicted by the wildfires.

Altadena residents have already expressed their heartfelt gratitude.

“Seeing Steve Perry step up for our community has been incredibly uplifting,” shared local volunteer coordinator Maria Santos.

“His gesture reminds us that we’re not alone in our recovery. Music has always brought people together, and right now, it’s bringing much-needed healing and hope.”

As Altadena rebuilds, the echoes of Steve Perry’s generosity will resonate long after the guitars have quieted—proof that when legends give back, they can help rebuild not just homes, but the human spirit.
